LGBTQ Group Dance Classes

In the 70s, disco was one of the most LGBT+-friendly genres of music. Or else you were dancing with us for at least 2 or 3 of the most recent swing dance terms. Learning your dance seems like an impossible task when you already have so much to think about, but this was the exact opposite of our experience.

Thank you, Liz! Not only did I get better at swing dancing, I got better at dancing in general! No partner or experience necessary. Liz, an accomplished and beloved social dance teacher, has the blessed ability, good heart, and talent to make each and every student of any age, level, ability, and persuasion, feel confident, make progress, get in touch with their individual self expression, and learn the basics and many great moves of all popular forms of social dance.

Disco was primarily black, Latinx, and gay, which is why it faced such a backlash from white rock fans - so much so that lesbian icon Bruce Springsteen wrote a song for Donna Summer to stand in solidarity against racism.

On the Big Day we remembered your dances and we looked active. Why is West Coast Swing so addictive? No partner necessary. It was possibly the best part of the event and I am percent sure this is because of the way you approached teaching us.

Okay, so disco is more of a music genre than dance - but what is disco without dancing?! You helped calm our nerves by teaching us the basics like leading and following who knew that two leads is one too many! Liz built up my confidence in moving my body to music such that I felt more comfortable no matter the style of dance.
